ALOO MUTTER PANEER (POTATOES, GREEN PEAS & INDIAN COTTAGE CHEESE CURRY)

Ingredients

  • 1 large potato
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 150g paneer (Indian cottage cheese)
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • ¾ tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 3 tbsp cream (optional)
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves to garnish

Method

  1. Microwave potato for 5-7 minutes. When it cools, cut into chunks
  2. Slice onion & tomatoes
  3. Heat oil in a pan. Add ginger and garlic paste. Fry till nice aroma arises
  4. Add sliced onions. Fry till they become slightly brown
  5. Add chilli powder, coriander powder, salt & turmeric powder and fry for 2 minutes
  6. Toss in sliced tomatoes. Cook till they become mushy.
  7. Add potatoes with a cup of water and cook for 10 minutes
  8. Now add peas & cook for 3 minutes
  9. Add paneer cubes into the gravy. Cook for further 5 minutes
  10. Add garam masala powder and let it simmer for another 2 minutes
  11. If using cream, add now and cook for 2 minutes
  12. Garnish with coriander leaves
